“Disruption is expected until 8am.”

Southern Rail warned passengers to allow at least 20 minutes for the journey, with services that normally use the fast line diverted via Redhill.

People were advised to check station screens, listen to announcements and use journey planners.

An update at 8.20am confirmed the disruption had ended and no further trains would be affected by the incident.
