UPDATE: Young woman suffers serious head injuries in A29 Hardham crash

A young driver has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a collision involving at telegraph pole on the A29 in Hardham this afternoon (Tuesday April 9).

Emergency services were called to the scene near Old London Road just before 2.30pm.

Firefighters believes the woman was in her late teens.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “The woman driver was trapped in her Mini car and the A29 Old London Road junction with the A283 southbound was closed while fire and rescue cut her from the wreckage.

“She has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with a serious head injury.

“The road remains closed as the telegraph pole involved has come down into the carriageway.”
