VIDEO: Air ambulance takes off with crash victim

Emergency services were called to Albion Way, Horsham, just after 5.15pm last night (Thursday May 31) following a collision involving a car and a lamp post.

“The 31-year old local male driver was taken by air ambulance to Kings College Hospital in South London with what were initially thought to be serious head and back injuries.

However on arrival it was established that his injuries were not serious.

There was nobody else in the car and no other vehicle was damaged.

More than one hundred people swarmed to the scene, which had fallen eerily silent as paramedics battled to get the driver out of the car.

The road was closed for some three hours and a Sussex Police spokesman said: “Emergency services are grateful for the patience of drivers during this period, while the man was taken safely away, the scene was investigated and the lamp post and roadway were made safe.

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened. Please call us on 101 quoting Operation Artisan.”
