VIDEO UPDATE: Man in life-threatening condition after severing foot in Horsham hospital collision

A man has severed his foot and is in life-threatening condition after a collision in Horsham Hospital car park this morning (Thursday March 20), police have confirmed.

Emergency services including the Sussex Air Ambulance were called to the scene in Hurst Road at around 10.45am.

Initial reports from police indicated a car was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

However this has been dismissed and it has been confirmed that the car had collided with street furniture.

The 89-year-old driver severed his foot and is in a life-threatening condition, said a spokesperson for Horsham police.

An air ambulance landed on playing fields at neighbouring Collyer’s college.

The driver was placed on a stretcher and taken to the helicopter.

He was airlifted to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and is now in a life-threatening condition, a police spokesperson said.

A Road Policing Unit have been at the scene to investigate, but have not been able to establish the cause of the accident.
