Tributes for crash victim

TRIBUTES have been paid to a teenager from Worthing who died in a car crash last week.

Katherine Yeatts, of Newling Way, High Salvington, was killed when her Peugeot 106 collided head on with a people carrier in Billingshurst on Thursday morning. She was aged 18.

A spokeswoman for Worthing College, where Katherine had spent a year studying for a GNVQ in health and social care, said: "Katherine was a real trier. She tried really hard and she achieved during her time here. She was very keen on horses and had done some work experience at Equitogs in Arundel, which she really loved.

"We are very sorry to hear about her death and we have very fond memories of her."

Katherine was also a student at Worthing High School. Deputy head teacher Jayne Edmunds said: "Katherine was a conscientious student, always making a determined effort to achieve her best in all areas of her school life.

"She was a lovely girl with a kind and gentle

nature. She was a popular member of her tutor group and an exceptionally loyal friend.

"Katherine had a deep regard and love for animals. She often referred to the many animals she kept at home and her horse was always special to her.

"All the staff who knew Katherine have very fond memories of her and have been deeply saddened by this tragic loss."

Katherine had been travelling west along Adversane Lane in Billingshurst at 8.25am when the collision happened.

The driver of the people carrier was a 46-year-old man from West Chiltington. He suffered minor injuries.
