Tributes to ‘true Bognorian’ Jean Reynolds

Mrs Reynolds was the wife of Norman Reynolds, the chairman of Bognor business Reynolds, and died on September 19 aged 83.

Mrs Reynolds was born and raised in Bognor as the eldest of four children to John and Kathleen Twine.

She was educated at Villa Maria school, becoming head girl in her final year, and became a primary school teacher, teaching in Portsmouth, Villa Maria in Bognor and in Horsham.

She married Norman Reynolds at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in 1957 and were married for 58 happy years.

Mrs Reynolds loved children so much she had seven; Catherine, Dominic, Clare, James, Maria and finally twins Matthew and Stephen.

She has 15 grandchildren and two great grand children.

In tribute, her family said: “Jean loved family get togethers especially at Christmas and revelled in organising Easter Egg hunts in the garden for her many grandchildren.

“Having inherited her father’s love of the land Jean was a keen gardener.

“She was an artist and was an active member of three local art societies. She even managed to sell a few pictures at the many art exhibitions she exhibited at.

“A true Bognorian, Jean took a keen interest in local history, had seen many changes and was a good source of local knowledge.

“Jean was never happier when at home surrounded by her family and friends and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.”
