Try out Englishdance tradition

Mad Jacks, which has both men and women sides, entertained when they danced at the Plough at Crowhurst over the Easter weekend.

They are holding a taster session on Monday May 12 at 8pm in the Upper Hall, St Clements Church House, Croft Road, Hastings.

This your chance to have a go at Morris dancing or play. Experience is not necessary but good rhythm and coordination are an advantage.

For dancing, sensible footwear and loose clothing are best. Musicians need to bring their instrument.

Mad Jacks take their name from ‘Mad Jack’ Fuller, the eccentric squire of Brightling who built a series of follies.

They use, as their insignia, an image of Fuller’s Sugar Loaf folly.

Mad Jacks have been dancing now for more than 30 years . If you want to see mad Jacks in action they will be playing a key role in this weekend’s Jack in the Green celebrations in Hastings dancing in a massed display at Winkle Island, in the Old Town, from noon and taking part in the big procession on Monday.
