TV donation joy for Rustington care home

DISABLED residents at a Rustington care home were given a special treat on Tuesday (April 15) – a new, state-of-the-art 50ins flat-screen television.

People living at St Bridget’s care home, in Ilex Close, have been enjoying the new TV which was donated by musicians from Littlehampton-based group Irish Band Boxty.

The group, led by Liam Connell, has visited St Bridget’s on several occasions to entertain people living at the site.

However, when the band heard of the home’s television plight, they put it upon themselves to fundraise for a new television,

Donations were provided by The Wilkes Head, in Eastergate – another regular Boxty haunt – the Wilf Page Charity Supper in Worthing and Worthing Freemasons.

Marcus Richards, manager at St Bridget’s said he was stunned by the donation.

“We’re so grateful for this new TV,” he said. “Although it’s only been up for about 30 minutes the residents have already been enjoying it.”

He added: “This new TV will mean that residents with visual impairments, who may not have been able to see the smaller TV in our large lounge can now enjoy watching television on a bigger screen.

“It’s a very generous donation and we’re really pleased with it.”

St Bridget’s is run by Leonard Cheshire Disability.

Leonard Cheshire Disability is one of the UK’s leading charities which provides support for disabled people across the nation.
