Police were called to the Travelodge in Arundel Road after the guest was attacked in the car park by two men who then stole his grey Ford Mondeo shortly after 12.30am on November 3.

The guest had been punched in the face, suffering a fractured cheekbone, and knocked to the ground before his hand was stamped on so the men could take the keys to his car and drive off.

Officers were in the area already as they had been called to a report of two men in dark clothing acting suspiciously and looking at cars.

They arrested a 20-year-old man nearby and took him in for questioning. A 40-year-old was later arrested in Bognor Regis.

Terence Winter, 40, of Lancaster Place, Bognor, and Richard Finneran, 20, of Rowlands Road, Worthing, have been charged with robbery.

Winter will appear at Chichester Crown Court on 29 November. Finneran will appear at the same court on 6 December.
