Uckfield - River Uck nears crisis point

The River Uck was just three feet below the arch of town bridge.

The water level is now higher than the large metal pipe which stretches across the river.

Ashley Hussey, from R&R taxis which is based at the old signal box next to the river, said: 'Police and firemen are standing outside looking very worried.

'The water is over the pipe, which is the point when everyone starts to panic.

'Caffyns have moved all of their cars and there are sandbags outside the Cock and Bull.'
