UDIMORE CHRISTMAS FAYRE: There was an excellent turnout for our big event on Saturday: lots of publicity helped, but the big attraction this year was a pair of young reindeer (generously sponsored by a parishioner) contentedly penned in their enclosure just outside the Hall, much admired by young and old alike. Father Christmas was another big draw, sporting his own bushy beard and dispensing gifts by lucky dip, many of his customers also enjoying the attention of our artistic resident face painter. As always, the various forms of raffle were well supported: among the most sought-after prizes, the annual 'Wick hamper', was won by Ann Elam. There was a most convivial buzz of busy shoppers in our crowded Hall, owing something no doubt to a particularly tasty brew of Parsonage mulled wine. Altogether one of our best Fayres ever, and certainly our most profitable, raising well over Â£1,350. Nan Hacking is to be congratulated on a wonderful event, and thanked for all the hard work she put into organizing it. She in her turn has asked me to thank the many people who contributed in so many different ways to its success, not least to the many of you who came along on the day.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS: Tomorrow (Saturday) Winchelsea Singers present their annual carol concert in Winchelsea Church, starting at 7pm. £10 entry, at the door, to include a drink and mince pies in the interval.

On Wednesday, December 14, there will be carol singing in the Red Lion, Brede, from 8pm.

On Sunday week, December 18, our own service of Nine Lessons and Carols will be in St Mary’s Church, starting at 6pm.

SERVICES IN ST MARY’S THIS SUNDAY: Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8am, and the monthly Family Service for All at 11.15am, followed by refreshments. All welcome!

MOBILE LIBRARY: The Library will be in the Hall car park between 11.15 and 11.45am on Wednesday December 14. A chance to stock up with some reading for the Christmas holiday?

CORRECTION: The date of the Overseas Group Winter Lunch is Wednesday January 18, not Thursday January 19, as advertised on page 25 of the December Parish Magazine. Other details correct.
