WILDLIFE AND GARDENING CLUB: Some twenty members of the recently re-formed club gladly accepted the kind invitation of Liz and Keith Dean to a barbecue and walk around Court Lodge Farm last Sunday afternoon. And were we glad we did! On a perfect summer's day, we were served by our hosts (assisted by several committee members) with very reasonably priced beefburgers, hot dogs and a delicious range of salads, followed later in the afternoon by tea and chocolate brownies. A great opportunity for exchanging recent wildlife (and other) news, admiring our hosts' garden, in full midsummer splendour, and watching the constant dashings to and fro of numerous house martins, bringing food to their nestlings high under the farmhouse eaves. Those of us who accompanied Keith on a walk were treated to fine views of landscape, riverside marsh and woodland, and a most informative account of the management of a highly productive organic beef business. Altogether a most successful and memorable afternoon.

CHURCH SERVICES: This Sunday in St Mary’s Church there will be a service of Holy Communion at 8am, and the monthly Family Service for All at 11.15am. Apologies to anyone who turned up at the Hall last Tuesday afternoon, expecting a session of Messy Church: news of its cancellation didn’t reached me in time.
