MURDER MYSTERY EVENING: Last Saturday evening a full complement of amateur sleuths was entertained. Intrigued and puzzled by the parish drama enacted for us by members of the talented company, Playden Players. In the final scene it was revealed that one of them had been murdered, none other than the vicar himself! Several of the eight-member teams managed to identify the murderer, the winner, Celia Langrish’s team, also spotting the largest number of incriminating clues. Smart work, considering the various false trails laid by the Players’ ingenious resident playwright. Altogether, with fish and chips of the best quality and a raffle, this was a most enjoyable evening, which raised £400 for the Friends of St Mary’s Church. Our chairman, Gill Rothery, has asked me to thank her committee members, everyone else who helped, and all the amateur sleuths who came along.
