Sunday Services: In St Mary’s Church this Sunday Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8am. The Remembrance Sunday Service will start at 10.45am, to allow time for the congregation to settle down before the 11am two minutes silence. The annual commemoration of all those who gave their lives in the two World Wars (and in other wars since) will have a specially poignant significance this time, as we mark the passing of a hundred years since the outbreak of hostilities in 1914.

Float Lane: I’ve just heard from the County Highways Department that the long awaited repairs to the lane (probably to include full resurfacing) are in the Department’s work programme for the whole of next week. From Monday to Friday the lane will be closed to through traffic, access permitted only to local addresses. If you use Dumbwoman’s Lane instead, please drive slowly and cautiously, especially when emerging onto B2089 at the top of the lane.

Overseas Group Tea Party: From 3 to 5pm on Sunday November 16, committee members of the Overseas Group have arranged one of their popular tea parties in the Hall, a fun event for all ages, with puzzles and games. Entry free, with the opportunity to make donations to the DEC Ebola emergency fund.

Christmas Singalong: Another note for your diary, please: at 6.30pm on Thursday December 11 there will be a Christmas Singalong in the Hall. The entry price of £5 will include a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, children free (refreshments to be provided for them too) - another event for all the family.
