Harvest Supper: Being away for some Lakeland walking last week, I missed the annual Supper. From what I’ve heard since, it again seems to have gone very well, much enjoyed by the 75 people who were there. I haven’t been able to find out how much money the event raised, but hope to let you know next week.

Flu Jabs: For vulnerable patients at the Broad Oak surgery, a second (and final) chance of immunisation against most strains of ‘flu that are likely to be prevalent this winter will be available at the surgery between 2 and 3pm this Wednesday (October 15).

Giant Jumble Sale: If you have items you’d be prepared to donate for sale next Saturday morning (October 18), please either take them along to the Hall between 2 and 4pm the previous afternoon or ring Nan(01424 882348) or Rosemary (01424 882567) to arrange another way of getting them to the Sale.

Spooky Tales: Please make a point of giving priority on Saturday evening October 25 (if you possibly can) to Geoff Hutchinson’s show in the Hall (starting at 6pm, and including home-cooked supper, for a modest £10; there will also be a licensed bar). It would be a great help to the organizers if you could book your tickets fairly soon, by ringing Celia Langrish (01424 882250).

WEA Courses: The Autumn Term has just begun, but I’ve been told there are still some places available, and it’s not too late to enrol now. The subjects are The Houses & Workplaces of Ordinary People of East Sussex 1300-1750 (Monday afternoons, in Rye), Practical Gardening (late Friday mornings, in our Hall), The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Philosophy (Tuesday mornings, in Rye), The Story of China (Tuesday afternoons, in Rye) and Burning Issues (every second Thursday of each month, in Rye).
