Two ambulances along with members of the Hazard Area Response Team (HART) were also sent to the incident near Great Lime Kiln.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said paramedics received a call at around 3.20pm that a woman was suffering from breathing problems near a lake in the area.

HART was called to assist crews as the woman, who was in her 40s, was stuck along a footpath which was not easily accessible for paramedics, the spokesman added.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to Worthing Hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
