Scottish and Southern Energy, which is responsible for power in the village, said engineers are still currently fixing the problem which left 16 homes without power.

A spokesman for the network provider said power had been restored to 11 homes but five will be without electricity until 9pm this evening.

They added: “We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience or disruption caused.”

Delays were reported on the road due to the issue.

The B2133 Adversane Lane was closed in both direction between the A29 Stane Street junction and the Marringdean Road junction due to the fire.

A police spokesman said the road has now been re-opened
