Michael Rickwood, of GC Dannicks, was carrying out some work on the Bexhill Sea Angling Club when he spotted a man covered in blood approaching.

He told the Observer: “A young fellow come just covered in blood.

“I said to him are you OK, is there anything we can do and he said ‘no, I have just fallen off my bike’.

“He carried on walking up the road.

“I thought no more of it then the police helicopter came over and police appeared from everywhere.”
