UPDATE: Power returns to Chichester city centre

A POWER fault affecting a number of city businesses, including the Observer, has now been fixed.

A number of buildings in the Southgate and South Street area lost power just after 10.30am today (July 2).

Traffic lights in Southgate were all off with cars and pedestrians paying extra attention to the road.

The power was off in a number of buildings up South Street, including Tesco Express, Argos and Cargo.

Cargo’s neighbour Game, however, was functioning as normal and all the buildings to the north of it were unaffected.

A member of staff in Game said he believed the shop was connected to a separate substation to its neighbour Cargo.
