UPDATE: Teenager in ‘critical’ condition after fatal Bognor collision

SUSSEX Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a 22-year-old man from Bognor died when his car left the road and hit a tree on the A29 Shripney Road, Bognor on Sunday (April 12).

Police say his front seat passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Ford, remains in a ‘critical’ condition in Southampton General Hospital, having sustained serious head and back injuries.

The pair were travelling in a Peugeot 106, which left the road and hit a tree around 6.50am.

A pink Kia Picanto was also involved in the incident though the driver, a 46-year-old woman, was not injured.

A police spokesman said: “The collision happened at 6.50am involving a Peugeot 106 car travelling northwards, which collided slightly with another vehicle, a Kia Picanto, before it came off the road.

“The driver, a 22-year-old man from Bognor, died at the scene. His passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Ford, suffered serious head and back injuries and was taken to Southampton Hospital. She is in a critical condition.

“The Kia driver, a 46-year-old woman from Bognor, was uninjured.”
