UPDATE: Vehicle fire blocks A27

The incident happened on the A27 westbound in Crossbush, and one lane is blocked. It is causing severe queueing traffic between Poling Corner and Crossbush Junction.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at just after 8am about the incident, and sent several fire crews to the scene where they found the car was well alight.

Firefighters used two hose reels to put out the blaze, and used breathing apparatus because of the smoke.

They left the scene at just before 8.55am and are treating it as accidental.

It is currently unknown if the driver or any passengers were harmed in the fire.

Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service have been approached for more information.
