Now, with Seaford Town Council, Seaford Police, the Tourist Information Centre and Citizens Advice Bureau all under one roof at 37 Church Street, the chances are you may only have to visit one location.

The idea to bring all of these serivices together in the former police staion was first discissed in october 2005.

The 240,000 was finally realised on January 2 this year when the doors opened to the public.

Contributions for the TIC and CAB came from Lewes District Council while the town council borrowed 140,000 from the Public Works Loan Board.

The town council will pay back this money over a 10-year period by renting its former premises, Hurdis House in Broad Street, and by renting out rooms at 37 Church Street.

As you enter the former police station, the TIC is on the left-hand side.

The staff here point people in the right direction as they come in.

Straight ahead is the CAB, the police are to the right and upstairs is the town council offices.

Also in reception is a computerised help-point which allows people to log complaints and access council services.

Town council clerk, Len Fisher, said: 'It is going to be good for the people of Seaford. You have got a council that has town quality status with one of the top teams of staff.

'There is an award-winning TIC and Sussex Police and civilian staff who provide and always have provided an excellent service. Then there is the CAB staff who are taking 300 calls a month and deliver a second-to-none service. How can it not work, the services are all in the one place.

'If you come in to this building you should be able to get an answer. Prior to that you had to go to four different places. There is no reason why it should not work.'

The TIC staff are enjoying their new home, having spent the last several months in a portable cabin in a car park.

Receptionist Jackie Webber said: 'It is going really well but it is difficult to say too much at the moment because it is very early days but so far so good.'

The High Sheriff of East Sussex Mrs Caroline Mayhew, will officially open 37 Church Street on January 23 at 11.30am.

There will be a short ceremony and buffet lunch.
