THOUSANDS of votes in an internet competition brought a taste of Christmas in Finland to Worthing.

Mobile phone company Nokia is bringing a Finnish Christmas to five towns in the UK, and Worthing narrowly beat Newbury online vote to win the event.

On Saturday, November 28, hundreds of lucky competition winners enjoyed an afternoon and evening of food, drink, snow and children's crafts.

Controversy had surrounded the ticket allocation earlier in the week, after Nokia underestimated the number of people who wanted to attend the event.

In the end the company allocated tickets in hourly slots to randomly selected people who voted in the competition.
