VIDEO: Protesters’ plea to keep town’s theatre and swimming centre

Campaigners David Warne, chairman of the East Beach Residents’ Association, and Dr James Walsh, town, district and county councillor, were stunned by the strength of support from today’s protest in Littlehampton (Wednesday, January 16).

Around 330 took part in the rally, which aimed to highlight the plight still faced by the Windmill Entertainment Centre and the Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre – which could be threatened with closure.

Speaking to the Gazette at the Manor House, in Church Street, Dr Walsh said: “They are showing the depth of feeling about keeping the swimming centre where it is, the windmill theatre and cinema as it is – even better in a bigger, expanded form – but it’s vitally necessary to keep those facilities for the town of Littlehampton and the surrounds.”
