Village capers kickstart Christmas

Christmas Capers last Friday got Robertsbridge off to a flying, and funpacked start to the Christmas celebrations. With more Christmas trees than ever lighting up the main streets of the village, the evening sparkled with festive cheer in all the shops and open houses where local people were selling their art, food and craft ware.

Food aplenty on the street for the first time was a first for Christmas Capers and will by public acclaim have to return next year. The evening also saw the launch of two new businesses to the village, the Hush Beauty Salon and Moat Osteopaths, to keep up the tradition started last year with the launch of Mustard, the eclectic furniture and gift shop and Helping Hands, the community help organisation, both of which are now thriving.

Highlights for the children were Santas grotto and a vintage chair-oplane ride in the George car park. The sweetest possible singing came from Salehurst Schools wonderful children’s choir and they were tunefully followed by our community choir, Rococo, and their latest offshoot, debuting on the night, the Robertsbridge Male Voice Choir.

On the street everyone, old and young were enthralled by the stunning exploits of Angie Mack with her LED lit hula hoops.
