"This was, and will be reflected, by Eastergate Parish Council in their comments to Arun District Council's planning department. Many reasons were put forward, all of which are under discussion at present."

District councillors are due to discuss the planning application next Wednesday.

Sites in Eastergate have also separately been put forward as potential locations for gypsies and travellers by consultants for the district council.

Cllr Hutton said the parish council would not make any comment at present while consultation about the allocation of land was continuing.
