Barcombe

FILM NIGHT: Tonight is the film, The Post, in the village hall as stated here last week. Do find the time to see this excellent movie. Stars Merryl Streep and Tom Hanks.

TALK: Barcombe and the Great War talk by Ian Hilder was a great success and about 110 people attended, enjoying some very nice cakes to boot. Jan Hobden (nee name) had arrived from New Zealand in time to hear it all. There was a mention of her great granddad and his threshing machine. Judging by the amount of applause, Ian did a grand job of narrating. I look forward to reading the forthcoming books.

SHORT MAT BOWLS: A creditable draw with Wivelsfield 4-4 on Tuesday. Next week we are playing Lewes on Wednesday in an away friendly as they have resurrected their short mat team. A league match against Hailsham Martlets is on Thursday and a team is entered in an Invitation Triples tournament at Broad Oak on Saturday. A very busy time for us.
