Malling

SOUTH MALLING SCHOOL: Once again the children of South Malling school amazed us with their creativity and humanity when they took part in Children in Need, last Friday. Representatives from all the Key Stage 2 classes created games and stalls for the mega-market sale in the Hall. All the classes had the chance to come and spend their money, play games and then eat their winnings. They all had great fun and raised a lot of money in the process (we are still counting it). Everybody also enjoyed dressing up in their yellow and spotty clothes. A huge thank you to Miss Schulte for organising the event and well done South Malling pupils.

TRINITY: South Malling (Parish Church). This Sunday there is a breakfast starting at 9am, followed by a service of Morning Praise led by Revd Jeremy Bamber with the Revd Steve Daughtery preaching. Steve is Rector of the three Trinity churches. In the church calendar, this Sunday is the last before Advent and celebrates Christ the King. Advent marks the beginning of the new church year. Appropriate then for a sermon on Vision. In Advent the church looks forward to the beginning of a new year, with the build up to Christmas and celebration of the birth of Christ. The service itself begins at 9.30am. There is very good provision for children and all are welcome.

POPPIES: Once again, Eve Empringham of Reed Court and her team of Poppy Knitters have been hard at work knitting poppies to support soldiers and their families. She says thank you, again to all who join her in knitting and selling them and all who bought them. Despite all the other poppies on sale in this special year, the total amount raised again was a magnificent £535.70 as much as last year. Well done.

REED COURT: After their successful venture into fund raising for Macmillan earlier on this year, inhabitants of Reed Court invite their friends and well-wishers to another coffee morning on Friday, December 7, from 10am to 1pm in aid of Chestnut House Hospice for children with cancer. There will be a cake stall and raffle with tea, coffee and cake available and a pleasant social morning. All they ask is for people to please come for a chat and a chance to help us raise money for this worthy cause. Please put the date in your diaries.

AGM: Malling Tenants and Residents Association. Please note that the AGM will be on November 28, 6.30pm at the Community Centre. All Malling residents are invited.
