Visual audit on derelict garages

The rundown structures around the estate are attracting young children who are at risk by climbing on to them.

The recent tour saw an environmental visual audit carried out for which a response from various agencies is awaited.

Police community support officer Michelle Davis said: "While waiting for a response, local patrols will continue to reassure parents and children."

Other matters of concern on the estate included fly-tipping, illegal parking and abandoned vehicles.

She pledged patrols would also carry on around the nearby Jubilee Playing Field after worries about the illegal use of mini-motos there.

The number of offences had decreased since patrols had been targeted on the open space off Chalcraft Lane.

A further hotspot for patrols will remain the Trees estate, stated PCSO Davis.

Rowdy behaviour, specifically youths who gathered in large groups, had caused complaints from other residents.

"We increased patrols targeting the area at the times of the day and night when the groups gathered.

"Repeat offenders have been reported to Arun District Council's anti-social behaviour team.

"A significant reduction in calls has seen offences decrease," she added. "However, patrols will continue."
