Volunteers needed to help lBognor's Laburnum Centre build on success

The Laburnum 'lifestyle centre' for older people in Bognor Regis is seeking volunteers to help keep up with its renewed success.

Age Concern West Sussex has recently invested in revamping the facility in Lyon Street, and membership numbers have now reached 1,000.

New volunteers to join its team, which already numbers around 160 people, are being sought to help with a wide range of social activities.

Tracy Taylor-Beck, head of day services, said: 'We want to encourage more people to use the centre and make its services more accessible to the older population of Bognor.

"The refurbishment has been a success with even more members coming through the doors, but our team of volunteers is now struggling to cope with the increased numbers."

The centre provides a subsidised two-course daily meal, as well as snacks and refreshments.

Tracy said: "Now the days are getting colder, and Christmas is on its way, we expect to see even more people coming through the doors to enjoy a hot meal and some activities out of the cold.
