VOTE: Are you attending any of the events in Arun to celebrate the jubilee?

From private street parties and shows, to the more public throng of large-scale events and festivals across towns and villages in the area there is a host of events on offer.

In preparation for this year’s jubilee weekend, the Gazette is printing a summary of the events taking place across our patch, to mark the Queen’s 60-year reign.

Littlehampton

It will be a spectacle on the water, on Sunday, June 3, as the Arun Youth Aqua Centre launches a flotilla of 60 sailing boats up the River Arun.

The fleet, made up of sailors aged between nine and 90, will set off from the group’s base, in Sea Road, Littlehampton, at about 9.30am, before stopping at the town’s harbour, an hour later

Crafty youngsters will be able to get into the spirit of the jubilee celebrations, at the Littlehampton Museum, during the half-term.

The museum will be holding a number of fun-filled workshops which will see children creating their own colourful bunting, party hats and flags before a jubilee tea party, on Saturday, June 9.

Workshops are free and take place on Wednesday, June 6, between 2pm-3pm, June 7, from 11am-noon and June 8, from 3pm-4.30pm. The activities are free but places must be reserved in advance.

Rustington

On Saturday, June 2, there will be day of live performances from bands and schools across the village as well as table-top sales and community art fairs.

At the Woodland Centre, in Woodlands Avenues there will be a free table tennis taster session between 10am and 1pm. Later there will be an hour-long teddy bear’s picnic and stories for youngsters, from 2pm.

In the evening, between 7.30pm and 9.45pm, the village memorial hall at the centre will erupt with harmonious melodies during the jubilee prom. Expect pitch-perfect performances from The Littlehampton Concert Band and The Sussex West Guide Choir.

On Sunday, June 3, there will be a quick cricket tournament between pupils from Georgian Gardens, Rustington and Summerlea primary schools at the recreation grounds in Woodlands Avenue, between 10-11am. Littlehampton-based TS Sussex Sea Cadets band will also be performing at the ground, from 2pm.

Arundel

Tarrant Street will become a hive of activity as the road is closed on Sunday, June 3.

From noon, live bands will be performing in the street. Residents of the town are encouraged to bring their own tables and chairs and join in the festivities.

Climping

A regal procession will begin in the village, at 2pm, on Monday, June 4, from Climping Village Hall to Climping Church. A stallball competition and barbecue with live music and fireworks will then begin.
