VOTE: Is it vital to create more car parking spaces in Bognor?

A crucial car parking study for Bognor Regis has begun.

The strategy into all aspects of the vital matter has been commissioned by Arun District Council amid warnings the seafront regeneration scheme could fail because of an absence of spaces.

The consultants carrying out the study will look at options for car parking around the town and how to maintain and improve the offer for the benefit of businesses and visitor attractions.

Town and district councillor Roger Nash said it was vital the strategy considered how parking could be included in the multi-million pound scheme to redevelop the Regis Centre site.

“I’ve heard it from several sources that no parking has been included in the current plans by St Modwen for the Regis Centre.

“That just beggars belief that you can have a new facility on there with a multiplex, if that is going to be built, along with a theatre expanded from 350 seats to 500 and no car parking.

“Where are people going to park, if that is the case? I can’t see how it’s going to work. It puts a big question mark over the scheme in my mind.

“In this day and age, a major leisure development like this is supposed to be, has to have car parking,” he said.
