ALL SAINTS' CLOSED: Work has at last begun on the re-ordering of All Saints' so the church is effectively closed. For the next few weeks all services will be held at St Bartholomew's at 8am and 10am on Sundays until further notice. This is likely to be for some six weeks.

STEAM ING: Last Sunday’s Steam Engine rally was perfect with beautiful weather and the crowds enjoying the sights. It’s also the best opportunity for Waldron residents to meet, catch up with old friends and gossip before the inevitable cooling winds of autumn arrive to chase us all indoors. As well as the giants of steam we also had a visit from a field-full of vintage cars and a spectacular rank of old motorbikes which attracted old and young bikers to sigh and coo over the days of British supremacy in bike-building.

ART EXHIBITION: The talented artists of the Waldron Art Club will hold their Exhibition and Sale at the Lucas Memorial Hall in the village on Saturday October 8 from 10am till 4pm. Everyone is welcome, entry is free and there are refreshments available.

HARVEST FESTIVAL: This year’s Harvest Festival will be held on Sunday October 9 at St Bartholomew’s Church at 10am.

PHOTOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION: There is to be an exhibition of photographs by local residents at All Saints’ Church from Thursday to Saturday, November 17 to 19. There are two categories, the first is open and of any subject and the second of local interest. Prints should be A4 size, preferably mounted on card with the name and address of the photographer on the back, with the title of the print. Closing date for entries is Sunday November 13 and they can be delivered to Rafters, Whitehouse Lane at any time or please call 01435 812147 if you would like an entry collected. There will be a gallery reception with bar and refreshments on Saturday 19th November from 4pm to 7pm.

STEVE BUTLER: Sad news for those who knew Steve Butler, who died suddenly in East Hoathly last week. Steve lived in North Street, Waldron for several years in the early 2000s. He ran a successful computer business and took part in a couple of our Community Plays, most notably as a soldier in Waldron at War. I have no information yet about his funeral but understand it will be held locally.
