This fantastic charity event to date has raised over £37,000 over three years and helped over 500 families providing a specialist service for children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties.

This year, Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity based in Billingshurst is looking for more walkers to make it bigger and better than ever and join the charity in celebrating Dame Vera Lynn’s centenary year. Known as the original forces sweetheart, she turns 100 years young on March 20, 2017.

Starting from the beautiful Arundel Castle on Saturday September 17, with two walk distances available of 12km (2-3 hours) or 35km (8-9 hours), you can choose what would be suitable for you and still enjoy the staggeringly beautiful views and scenery which the South Downs has to offer.

Catherine Bristow, Events Fundraiser commented: “It is such an amazing atmosphere on the day, everyone is invited to take part, regardless of ability.

“Many people use the event as a team building exercise. This year, we have a fantastic group of people from Stay Safe Driving School already signed up.

“Stay Safe encourages earlier development of better driving skills and attitudes for tomorrow’s drivers and Steve Lintott the owner is really behind the charity.

“Steve is also a fire fighter so every day he puts his own life on the line and yet still manages to run a business to help children of the next generation and be very much involved in raising money for our charity. He truly is an inspiration.”

So, if you would like to do something incredible that will not only give you a great sense of self achievement, here is how.

We have teamed up with the wonderful people at Pied A Terre Adventures to organise this event, so you can be sure that you will be well looked after. There will be regular refreshment stops, plenty of encouragement along the way and a well-deserved hot meal for all on completion of the 35k.

Plus, we will have an exclusive prize draw which all fundraisers who reach the £100 fundraising target could win compliments of Audi Five Oaks, one of the sponsors of the event, we are also extremely fortunate to have the support of Wirsol Energy Ltd.
