WANTED: Travel buddy for Horsham woman’s Antarctic adventure

Donna Elder, 63, of Deer Way, is appealing for someone to join her on a 20-day trip to Antarctica.

She has travelled around the world with her husband Tony, 79, but he will not be able to go on this next trip for mobility reasons.

“Do it while you can, even if you can’t afford it, because one day someone’s going to pull the rug out from under your feet,” said Donna.

“For the first 40 years of my life I didn’t get much further than the coast, and I absolutely got bitten by the bug.

“Who knows what the next 18 months is going to bring. Insure yourself and keep your fingers crossed and go for it.”

The trip of a life time, planned for November 2015, starts in Buenos Aires and stops at South Georgia, South Orkneys and Ushuaia.

To go alone will cost her more than £13,000. But doubling up with a travelling companion will dramatically slash it in half.

Donna is keen to advertise for a female buddy, but her husband has reluctantly allowed her to cast the net wide and consider a male companion.
