Warship wreckbrought to life

The ship was deliberately scuppered by her captain after being damaged during the Battle of Beachy Head.
The remains of the Anne are buried beneath the sands at Pett Level and the outline of the ship can be seen at low tide.

The result is an image of what the Anne would have looked like when she was run aground in 1690.
Jacqui Stanford, Director of the Shipwreck Museum, said: “We cannot thank the University of Birmingham and in particular Bob Stone and his brilliant students enough for all their hard work over the last four months.
“To be able to stand on the wreck site with an iPad and effectively walk on the decks of the Anne was totally amazing. I cannot wait for everyone to see the final results of this project.”
The University will be back later in the year to show the results of the Project at the Beach Club at Pett Level.
