Watch pays dividends

A VIGILANT member of Rother Neighbourhood Watch played a key part in enabling police to foil an attempted break-in at Richmond Grove, Bexhill, last Thursday, July 7.

Uniformed officers, detectives and a dog unit were among resources deployed in response to the incident, which was possibly linked to a burglary in Newlands Avenue, Bexhill, the previous day.

Enquiries are continuing, but police have praised the quick-thinking of the Neighbourhood Watch volunteer which alerted them to a crime in progress.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.

In another incident, fishing tackle was stolen from a shed in The Ridings after it was broken into between midnight on Wednesday, July 6 and 9.15am last Saturday morning, July 9.
