Watermelons building big reputation

Chichester band The Watermelons are building on the successes of a great 2011 so far.

Spokesman Pourang Boroumand said: “It began with a tour of Germany, playing packed established venues across the capital Berlin in support of their music video entry to German MTV. Their video Dancing With The Wrong One achieved over 30,000 views within a week and rated number four in the download charts amongst the likes of Rihanna, The Kills and Kanye West.

“The Watermelons’ success continued into the summer with a trip to France where the band played a number of shows in Le Touquet, before playing the main support to one of France’s biggest named artists Louis Bertignac at Rock En Stock Festival last month.

“The Watermelons enjoyed a great reception in both France and Germany and their music has been used in a French documentary about Rock En Stock Festival where the band also appears.

“Now back from their European tours the band are set to perform at Shambala Festival and aim to expand their fan base in the Midlands.

“The Watermelons are a four-piece indie pop band consisting of Toby Bain, Sam Salkeld, David Kelly and Matt Wagstaff formed in the heart of West Sussex back in 2009. Two years on, The Watermelons are on their way to becoming a well-established band.”
