Emma Weatherstone campaigned for four years and has finally been successful in having a 20mph limit agreed for Westbourne.

She explained: “The objective is to make Westbourne a better place for residents to live and people to visit and make cycling and walking around our beautiful village safe for everyone.

“We want to encouarge families to walk or cycle to school and leave their cars at home.

“Many of the roads do not have pavements and currently the speeds people travel on the roads makes is very dangerous.”

The 20’s Plenty Greening Westbourne event starts at the White Horse Inn, where there will be live music and a barbecue. People can start the annual family fun ride around the parish any time between 2pm and 4pm.

Emma said: “All you need to do is register, pick up a map and set off. You don’t need to be a super-keen cyclist or be with a family.”
