Westfield

Spring seems to be here: after rather a dreary winter, and the village is looking very attractive with the sun shining on the daffodils in the verges, despite many having bloomed before Christmas.

There are only two weeks to go: until the Westfield Horticultural Society Spring Show! This is at Westfield Community Hall from 2.30-4.30pm on Saturday, April 2. What are you entering? Pick up a show schedules from Westfield News, or view on the village website http://www.westfieldvillage.co.uk/community/generalinterest/horticultural. There are classes for everyone – flowers, vegetables, cooking, crafts, and children’s classes, and lots of stalls including Friary Gardeners fabulous plant stall.

Westfield Youth Club: is urgently looking for people to replace the two current helpers leaving due to family commitments after six enjoyable years. Helpers need to commit to coming along twice a month from 6-8pm. There is some lifting involved (pool table etc.), but we are told that mostly you require a sense of humour and a love of chocolate! Helpers are subject to a DBS check. If the Youth Club cannot find committed volunteers then sadly it will have to close this summer. Please contact the organisers for more information at [email protected], or ring Dan 07899 917952 or Min 07952 995745.

The Westfield Village website: www.westfieldvillage.co.uk has all sorts of information about village organisations, events, Westfield Community Association and the Parish Council. This is your website, set up to serve the village community, and your contributions, news and views are needed.

We are still looking: for someone to be our new Village Voice correspondent. Please contact [email protected] for more information. Until a replacement is found please send Village Voice contributions to the same address.
