It’s the Whatlington Village Fete tomorrow - Saturday 15th June!! Fingers crossed for decent weather for our traditional village fete. There will be all sorts of games and attractions for the whole family, from the coconut shy, crockery smashing and tractor rides to the plant stall, beer tent and vintage car display. Incidentally if you have a vintage, classic or unusual vehicle, it’s not too late for you to have yours included at the fete, just call Hugh Apthorp on 01424 772790. The highly competitive (!) stoolball match will take place in the afternoon and if you would like to have a go and be on the team, call Steve on 01424 772968 - no experience necessary just a desire to have some fun! Also if you have any plants for the plant stall, bric-a-brac or raffle prizes, please bring them on the day, and if you would like to help out, the “working party” will be setting up the field from 9.30am on Saturday morning.

If Australian wine is your tipple (or even if it’s not) you’ll be pleased to know that Hazel’s next wine tasting at The Royal Oak is on Saturday 22nd June at 9pm. Tickets are just £5 to taste 5 very different Oz wines, if you would like to reserve a place then please call 01424 870492.

The Quiz at The Royal Oak has become a very popular evening, last week “Harmony” won the jackpot which was a triple rollover, and they kindly donated £100 to St Michael’s Hospice from their winnings - well done to them! There is always room for more teams to challenge the winner’s spot, so if you would like to join in, we start at 8pm every Thursday. Not only is Wednesday cards night at The Royal Oak, but you can now get a curry and a pint for just £7, please call us on 01424 870492 if you would like to book.

Live music this month falls on Friday 28th June when our regular Irish Music session will kick off at 8.30pm. This is always a busy night, so if you would like to book a table, please call 01424 870492.
