News from Alex at The Royal Oak:

We enjoyed an excellent wine tasting at The Royal Oak on Saturday, of five very different Rose wines from around the World. Thank you to Hazel for leading the tasting and providing all the information about the wine. The next tasting will be of red wine - date to be decided!

The next Book Club meeting for The Royal Oak Readers is on Tuesday September 4th at 7.30pm to discuss The Coroner’s Lunch by Colin Cotterill. Everyone’s welcome, for more details call 01424 870492.

Thursday Quiz Night is becoming very popular - nine teams competed last week, with “North/South divide” winning by 4 points! The quiz takes place every Thursday at 8pm for teams of up to 6 people.

The next live music night at The Royal Oak is the regular Traditional Irish Tunes session on Friday 31st August from 8.30pm. This is always a busy night, so be sure to book a table if you’d like to come along. Call 01424 870492 for more details.

The Royal Oak Summer Party, BBQ and Boules Tournament will be held this year on Bank Holiday Monday 27th August from 3pm. This was a super afternoon last year - a lovely community atmosphere! The BBQ is just £5 per head, and entry for pairs into the Boules Competition is free - it doesn’t matter if you’ve never played before, just come and have a go! Live music will be performed by Jo and Paul Dengate as Glashin - a well-known local duo who specialise in uplifting folk music from around the world. Booking is essential (so that Mike knows how many burgers to make), so if you hope to come along, please call Alex on 01424 870492.

Further to the success of the last Psychic Nights event, Robin Lown and Grant Colyer have agreed to return to The Royal Oak for another evening. Everyone was amazed at the accuracy of Robin’s palm readings and Grant’s ability to communicate messages from surrounding energies. The last one was sold-out, so if you would like tickets for the next one which will be on Saturday 20th October from 7.30pm, then please call 01424 870492 and book - just £10 each.
