White flowers and honeybees set to improve vista at Bexhill Police Station

Michael Bernard, along with other members of Bexhill Environmental Group, is about to plant some cherry plum trees in the lawn in front of the station on Terminus Road. The group say they are motivated by the lack of tree coverage in the area.

He says police have reacted enthusiastically to news of the arrivals, saying: "In time there will masses of pretty white flowers, swarming with honeybees on a warm day, then red and yellow fruit to eat.

"And Bexhill Environment Group, working with Bexhill Police and Rother District Council, hopes that there will be benches nearby, rescued from the seafront, for the public to rest and enjoy the improved environment."

Inspector James Scott of Bexhill Police praised the idea, saying he was: "More than happy to see the trees outside and improve our vista."
