Who'll be watching your neighbourhood?

THE search is on to find a dynamic successor to the man who has put Bexhill Neighbourhood Watch Association on the map.

Association chairman Paul Brazier is having to give up because of continuing ill-health.

In a tribute to Paul, Inspector Max Mosley said: "I would like to thank him very much for the fantastic work he has done over the years as chairman.

"Neighbourhood Watch has a big future. I have always said that we need to achieve is to turn the whole of Bexhill and Rother into a Neighbourhood Watch scheme with everyone looking after each other.

"The thing is that we will need a suitable replacement for Paul Brazier who is going to put in the same energy. He was so committed. We need a true community successor, someone who has time and energy and who can develop the system."

One of the key strategies for Neighbourhood Watch is the development of e-mail links. Potentially, this offers a paperless means for police to keep Neighbourhood Watch coordinators in touch swiftly so that they can pass on crime warnings to residents in their areas.

Locally, the scheme is being developed by Neighbourhood Watch Association member Mike Lewis.
