Willingdon, Wannock and Jevington

FLOWER CLUB: Willingdon Flower Club would like to thank all the many members and visitors that came and supported the fashion show on Friday May 6 and helped raise much needed funds for the club. We were rewarded with an outstanding display of fashion items. The highlight of the show was the four club members who became fashion models for the afternoon. Jasmine Gayton, Jackie Harris, Anne Taylor and Sheila Ash seemed to enjoy their chance to strut down the catwalk to the applause of the audience. Two professional models, Mary and Pip, also took part. Following the display the audience had an opportunity to purchase the clothes at bargain prices and had a great afternoon. Delicious homemade cakes and teas were served at the beginning of the show. The NAFA lonely bouquet event was celebrated by the club and the Queen's 90th birthday was marked by presenting posies to six ladies who have reached 90 years or are 90 years old this year. The six ladies are Doris Hookham, Madelaine Gutteridge, Irene Mathews, Iris Robinson, Phil Bloomfield and Iris Quickenden. Congratulations to them all. The chairman, Margaret Lainchbury informed the club that June 3 meeting would be held at the Willingdon Church Hall as the usual venue Willingdon Memorial Hall is being refurbished that week. She also reminded members that the club is having a stall at the Jevington Fete on June 18. Volunteers should contact Margaret.
