Wind turbine approved by council

A CONTROVERSIAL wind turbine bid has been granted planning permission.

Lewes District Council's planning comittee voted last night (Wednesday) to grant permission for an eight metre turbine in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Juggs Road, Kingston.

Kingston Parish Council and the South Downs Society had opposed the plan for a turbine at a gas station run by Southern Gas Networks.

No members of the public wrote to complain about the bid.

Cllr Jim Daly said: 'We approved it. The consensus was were not that keen on it but it was necessary because of what's there already.

'The committee wasn't happy about the design of the turbine itself but we will go back to the applicant about that.'
