Woman hurled an ashtray at landlady

A PREGNANT woman has been warned she could face a prison sentence after hurling an ashtray at a pub landlady.

Toni Littlejohn, 25, of Ninfield Road, Bexhill, was drinking with a man in The Tower pub in St Leonards on May 14 when they started getting abusive towards customers.

Mark Kateley, prosecuting, said: "The two of them were causing something of a disturbance, getting into arguments with people and getting somewhat abusive.

"They were asked by the landlady and other people to move away from the premises and ended up having to be ejected."

When the landlady tried to remove Littlejohn, she picked up an ashtray and threw it, missing the woman and smashing it on the floor.

Littlejohn admitted the offence at Hastings Magistrates Court this week.

By committing the offence, Littlejohn was in breach of a two-year conditional discharge imposed by Lewes Crown Court in March this year for possessing a baseball bat.

Sam Wingfield, defending, said Littlejohn had drunk several shots and two double vodkas when a group of girls started taunting her.

She said: "The girls started being abusive towards her, but she did not see and her partner came up to her and told her."

Ms Wingfield added: "As she was going outside, they called her a slag again and it all got out of hand.

"She went out of the pub and they stayed in the pub and goaded her through the window."

She said Littlejohn was "genuinely sorry" for the incident and had no intention of returning to The Tower.

She added that Littlejohn had found out that day that she was expecting her fourth child and is now three months' pregnant.

Magistrates committed Littlejohn to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing, with a time and date to be fixed.

She was granted unconditional bail.
