Women injured in baseball bat attack frenzy

TWO women were repeatedly hit with a baseball bat in Goring last week.

A 68-year-old and another woman, aged 44, were assaulted with the bat outside the Co-op in Goring Road on June 9 about 3.30pm. Both were taken to Worthing Hospital suffering severe bruising to their heads and arms.

A police spokeswoman said: "This is a serious assault on two members of the public, one being particularly vulnerable due to her age."

An 18-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both from Worthing, were arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses.
