Wood store blaze spreads to house

Fire crews have put out a blaze in a wood store which spread to a house.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene in Horsted Lane, Sharpethorne at 8.30pm yesterday (February 1).

A spokesman said six firefighters in breathing gear used hoses and a jet to put out the fire in the farm outbuilding.

Most of the wood store and ‘ten per cent’ of the house which was next to it was damaged by fire.

Two East Grinstead, a Haywards Heath and a Crawley fire engine crews were in attendance.

Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots and fire spread.
