Work experience for Bexhill High students

YEAR 10 students at Bexhill High School spent last week out of the classroom - but they had a good reason.

It was Work Experience week when the pupils secured placements at local businesses, ranging from childrens' nurseries to solicitors and banks.

On the hottest week of the year so far, the students learnt about the workplace, and the importance of punctuality and sticking to a dress code.

Katie Horscroft, who worked at HSBC for the week, said: "I have really enjoyed my work experience. It's been a real eye-opener for me.

''It helps to know what it is really like in the working environment when it comes to making decisions about courses for the future, but best of all it has been fun.''

Natalie Packham, who was at Meneer Shuttleworth solicitors in Eversley Road, said, "I have loved the experience of being in a solicitors' office. It has really helped me focus on what I want to do when I leave school."

The week was a valuable experience for the year 10 students, before they take their GCSEs next year.
